Bright Sunny Blue Sail

When I first began oil painting in the 70's, I painted lots of sailboat scenes at Penn Manor in Tullytown, Pa. I think I could have continued that for the rest of my career. I was drawn to the idea of the water and sailing in a small craft. The feeling of the speed of the sailboat moving on top of the water. Also, the time of day and weather, overcast, sunny, foggy, many other conditions effected the painting completely. I learned lots about painting when I did this series. Penn Manor Sails

Revisiting my favorite place to find subject matter. Penn Warner Lakes in Tullytown, Pa. We spent lots of time getting into trouble while swimming in the lakes without membership. I did lots of really great sailboat paintings at different times and weather conditions. I thought I would create some new oil paintings of my old stomping ground.

Farmer

Traveling back in time we see a Farmer working with his cow getting ready to plow the fields. This type of work took place all over Bucks County. Hope you like the memories and image.

Sunny Day

This time of year, I really miss these days HA! We would ride our bikes up to George's Canoe Rental on the Delaware Canal and just enjoy the day rowing and taking photos. Great memories!!!

Country Mail

Painting is a journey to wonderful people, places, and things. This journey took me to these beautiful mailboxes. It is the second time I painted mailboxes as my subject. I guess deep down in my subconscious they have a hidden meaning. I can think of many reasons, but I am sure you have some of your own. I think the beauty of the scene speaks for itself. Enjoy

Gate House

Some more simple beauty. Bucks County has so much to share. I remember when I started driving, I would drive past Farm after Farm. It may not be here to see in life, but I still can see it in my mind. Hope you enjoy this little farmhouse.

Father and Son

Gone Fishing! It was one of my favorite things to do in my youth and as a father. I usually go with my son and sometimes with a friend and his boys. It was always fun even though we never caught anything to take home to eat. We fished in all the little creeks and lakes and the Delaware River. Plenty of places to cast your bait. Lots of funny stories going through my mind. That is why I painted this Original Oil.

Blue Bowl with Fruit

Wanting to work with some lighter colors I took some time to paint this pastel still life. Love the inside outside challenge too! Sorry if my window edge lines are shaky. I have now been accepted into the shaky hand artist group! HA! I do not use rulers or any straight edges. I just paint, slowly if I need to.

Open Door

Looking out windows or doors is a common theme I use. It creates a feeling of two different environments in most cases. I think it means more than that to me because working in my studio is a safe place and then having the feeling of never knowing what to expect when I leave. It is the open door or window that lets you know what is happening outside. It is an open invitation to a journey. I explored this concept with this painting.

Hobbit Bird House

I enjoy doing Fantasy Type realistic Paintings. Many Artist past and present create these beautiful ideas. I have painted many birds from my yard in the past and thought it would be interesting to do something different. I love the imagery created in the movies on the sets of Hobbit type movies. Wanted to combine the two interest and this is my first attempt. Hope you like it!
