Penn Manor Sails
Revisiting my favorite place to find subject matter. Penn Warner Lakes in Tullytown, Pa. We spent lots of time getting into trouble while swimming in the lakes without membership. I did lots of really great sailboat paintings at different times and weather conditions. I thought I would create some new oil paintings of my old stomping ground.

Nights End
Bucks County Skys are the best! I always find it hard to believe they occur here in my back yard. You just need to be in the right place at the right time. Although most are accidental finds. After all Nature RULES!

Skipping Stones
Memories of time spent with my Mother. How very appropriate for this time of year. In my early childhood my Mother would often drive to Washington Crossing where there was a nice picnic area with small barbeque stands. Mom would bring summer food and the charcoal to cook the food while my sister and I would play within her sight. We would walk down to the river and skip stones. I always look forward to these little picnics with Mom and my sister. Feels great to remember it so vividly. Hope you have GREAT memories too.

Sunday Beach
This painting is part of my memory series. My ex-wife would make all three girls dresses and other things. The dresses on the girls in the water are very close to the ones I have in pictures of my children wearing. I enjoyed painting this because it brought back memories of my loving family. A painting similar to this was painted by Sally Swatland. I asked her permission before I completed the painting. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I decided to paint some of the simpler things in life that I grew up with over time. It is not so simple for the children today. My generation in Levittown was mostly all the same type of familys. We wanted for nothing but had very little. We made the best with what we had. Fathers worked hard and Mothers raised the children. There was plenty to do. We were never bored. Plenty of good friends our own age. Had nothing, needed nothing, and HAPPY. That works

Bright Sunny Blue Sail
When I first began oil painting in the 70's, I painted lots of sailboat scenes at Penn Manor in Tullytown, Pa. I think I could have continued that for the rest of my career. I was drawn to the idea of the water and sailing in a small craft. The feeling of the speed of the sailboat moving on top of the water. Also, the time of day and weather, overcast, sunny, foggy, many other conditions effected the painting completely. I learned lots about painting when I did this series. Over 50 years later, Still learning

Fisherman's Wharf
Fisherman's Wharf, 20 x 26", Oil on Canvas, . Some paintings taker longer than expected to complete. I paint in layers developing color and detail on every layer. I mentioned before sometimes I work on as many as 10 paintings because of the drying process of oil paints. This painting was put aside many years ago (38 years). I lost my notes and reference material, but didn't want to let it go because I liked the composition. It was also where I spent a week of my honeymoon in 1977, before going to Hawaii for a week. Last month while cleaning some old documents I found my reference material, so here it is completed. SOLD

Penn Manor Sails
SPRING - Colors are vibrant and the flowers are blooming. I did a series of SAILS years ago and they were very popular. I like painting the boats at Penn Manor in Tullytown, Pa. This area was one of our swimming places as a young boy. There is a small bridge that passes over the connection from one lake to another. We like to jump off the bridge until the police would come and chase us away. Many good memories swimming in a members only cove for FREE :)

Port Issac Boats
If you think looking at this painting is confusing. It was much more confusing and a challenge to paint. I like to test myself every once in a while. I had a dark background when I began this Oil Painting. I wanted to leave some of the rough strokes in the boats bottom in the foreground.

I started thinking about this painting after I returned from a visit to my daughter Theresa Furey in the UK. It is an area in Polzeath.
